I sat upon a hill today

I sat upon a hill today

And watched the valley stretch away

Into the purple hills beyond

I saw the sun strike on the chrome

And listened to the weary drone

of things red and blue below.

New and bright among the trees

I saw them glitter and remain

Then I looked out at the hills again

And saw beyond the dappled bay

The clouds unheedful drift away

Despite the screams of silver planes.
