(Tonight as I stand alone on the prairie)

Tonight as I stand alone on the prairie

Not a light can be seen anywhere

But the stars from the ground to the ground

Arch above me

And I wish I wish you were here

Like jewels scattered out by the hand of a sultan

They glitter and sparkle with fire

I imagine your face turned up to the heavens

And the thought brings a tender desire.

I lay on my back on the grass of the prairie

And watch the stars turn above.

The millions of lights fill my heart with such glory

And I long for my gentle love

Oh come to me soon to this place on the prairie

Where horizons can stretch out so far

For I wait for the day when my love and I marry

And together we dream with the stars
